The Circle of Contradictions *

This project focuses on the affordability of sustainable energy. Our research revealed inconsistencies between sustainable policies and their availability to the public. We created the ‘Circle of Contradiction’, a timeline of environmental policies in Bord Na Mona's history. The findings showed that sustainable energy initiatives mainly benefited wealthier individuals. We examined Bord Na Mona’s positive contributions to public housing, jobs, and community projects, which often hid the negative effects of their environmental policies. The posters we designed highlight the hypocrisy and lack of accountability in corporate environmental practices. They humorously address contradictions in initiatives, such as the harmful impacts of wind energy on boglands and the high costs of solar panels in homes.
